This Moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see. Inspired by http://www.soulemama.com/soulemama/
This was one of many special moments from the summer ~ all tired out after a day of boating.

Technical Difficulties

Oh, my poor neglected blog. I've mentioned in other posts that we spend our summer living on a beautiful, remote, New England beach. It has everything one could want in a beach - privacy, beauty, tranquility - but one thing it does not have is internet access. I have toyed with the idea of buying a smart phone or i pad for the past two summers as a means of staying connected while we are away. But to be honest, I sort of enjoy being disconnected. Not turning to the computer every time there is a slight break in the action allows me to be focused on my children, to be with them in the moment, and to be entirely present. We spent long hours playing on the beach and doing a whole lot of nothing this summer. And I loved it, every minute of it. I really did not miss all the emails, and I certainly did not miss facebook. But I did miss this blog, very much. More than just a record of our home-learning activities this blog has really become a sort of mini-journal for me, an electronic way to encapsulate our family life. I hope that my children will look back at it as they grow and remember the joyful times we had together as a family. So, who knows perhaps next summer I will be buying a smart phone. We have been home from beach living for a week now, and are in full home-learning gear. I have tried to update this blog with photos, but I am experiencing some technical difficulties and apparantly the fixing of these technical difficulties is going to require more from me than the few minutes of daily free time I have between lessons, laundry, dishes, cooking, and chauffering children. But I hope to have some new posts and pics ready to go by the weekend. Until then, thanks for reading my poor, neglected blog!
